What is Jiu-Jitsu?

Jiu-Jitsu evolved from the Japanese martial art Judo into its own distinct discipline. It focuses on employing leverage rather than strikes to control an opponent, thus eliminating the importance of size and strength in a conflict. Skillfully applied joint locks, submissions, and chokes neutralize any opponents – making Jiu-Jitsu the world’s most effective and efficient form of self-defense.

Jiu Jitsu also differs from many martial arts in that it is practiced as a sport featuring two basic classes of competition: Gi and NoGi (Submission Grappling).
